The gauntlet has been thrown down!
So, to the testing! For the first phase of our testing (or 'Phase 1: Genesis' for those with a flair for the dramatic) We decided to hit the main contenders, the heavyweights if you will.
The purchases were all made in a single run within an hour, the location? Picturesque Braintree town centre. 
For this; our first. tentative step into the high-adrenaline world of pork product testing, we decided to focus on the four major food retailers in the town.
Tesco, Sainsburys, Somerfield, and the newly-opened Marks and Spencer were our first contenders, each came with its own challenges: Tesco with its bewildering range, Somerfield with its bizarre store layout, Sainsburys with its high volume of slow-moving customers and Marks and Spencers with a combination of all three!!
In the interests of equality, all sausage rolls were from the standard (as opposed to value or premium) range and of the newly dubbed 'Midi' size (somewhere between party and jumbo size) and to be entirely fair (to the testers as well)  they were purchased in 6-packs.
